Lowering of Rotor in pit of Unit-1 on 30th Mar-10 is a major step towards commissioning of Koteshwar project. After overcoming geological uncertainties of vulnerable right bank above Power House pit and El. 590m rock ledge upstream of Power House pit, construction of Power House commenced in Jul-08. Erection of Electro-Mechanical equipment was taken up w.e.f. 21st Nov-08 with installation of 1st piece of Draft Tube Elbow liner with the help of Mobile Tower Crane. Lowering of Rotor in a time span of just 16 months is made possible due to the innovative and exemplary work done by our Technical team.
Erection team at project achieved major break through for advancing the erection of EM equipment by erecting stay ring of Unit-1 with mobile tower crane in Mar-09 which was scheduled to be done with EOT crane in Jun-09. Erection of spiral casing was also completed successfully with mobile tower crane and hydraulic testing of spiral was done on 18th Sep-09. Concrete around spiral casing and up to Generator Barrel was achieved in record time interval of 69 days which usually takes 4-5 months.
Generator Barrel of Unit-1 was made ready on 10th Dec-09 for lowering major assemblies. After assembly in Service bay, Stator of Unit-1 was lowered in pit on 26th Feb-10. Lowering of Turbine assembly in pit was completed on 5th Mar-10.Though Unit-1 of Koteshwar HEP is scheduled to be commissioned by Dec-10, all out efforts are being made to commission it well ahead of schedule.
