Corporate Communication Department, Rishikesh in collaboration with H.R.D. Department organized a talk on "Image Building" on 28.04.2010 at Bhagirathi Bhawan complex of THDC India Ltd. Dr. Ajit Pathak, National President, Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) was the key speaker and GM (Personnel) Sh. S.K. Biswas was the Guest of Honour on this occasion.
The Head of the Departments (HODs) and special invitees from Policy, Corporate Planning (CP) and Design departments respectively were also prominently present in the audience. It was heartening to note that GM (CP), GM (Design) and GM (S&E) aptly paid their full attention to the talk as these departments have a close working association with Corporate Communication Department. Also the presence of departments like IT, Policy and Business Development as well as keen involvement of the senior officers from other disciplines shall help in role appreciation of each other.
Sh. S.K. Biswas GM (Personnel) underlined the role & need of Corporate Communication in an organization and felt that Corporate Communication should be strengthened to cope with the need of the hour. Sh. J. P. Dhaundiyal, Chairperson, Dehradun Chapter of (PRSI) gave the welcome address and stressed upon the need to revamp the immense potentialities of PR as a profession to have acceptance of an organization to achieve higher commercial gains.
The essence of the talk was that we have to change our strategies to face the competition and therefore Corporate Communication should sharpen its tools, so that we can tailor our communication to face even a crisis situation. The participants were quite interactive during the talk of Dr. Pathak and the same was widely appreciated by one and all.
Around 15 PR professionals from other corporate sectors in the region viz ONGC, SJVNL, URJA Nigam and NHPC etc. were also present during the talk which enhanced communication between the corporate houses of this region.
While proposing the vote of thanks Sh. S. K. Sharma Sr. Manager HRD highlighted the one of the substantial points that PR is no substitute for bad work and agreed that for image Building 90% is performance and 10% is talking.
