Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal, Sh. K.P. Sharma Oli and a high level delegation visited the Tehri Dam Project here today on 21.02.2016. On behalf of the Govt. of India Hon’ble Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & Renewable Energy, Sh. Piyush Goyal came with the delegation and inspected the Tehri Dam Project. In the morning the delegation landed at Koti Helipad in Tehri wherein Hon’ble Minister for (Tourism), Govt. of Uttarakahnd, Sh. Dinesh Dhanai, Hon’ble MP(Lok Sabha) Tehri, Smt. Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Hon’ble MP(Rajya Sabha), Sh. Tarun Vijay, DM-Tehri, SP-Tehri and General Manager(Tehri Project) Sh. O.S. Maurya welcomed the delegation.
During the visit the delegation inspected the Dam and the underground Tehri Power House wherein Sh. R.S.T. Sai, CMD, THDCIL briefed the Hon’ble Prime Minister and the delegation about THDC India Limited and the distinctive features of Tehri Dam Project and Sh. D.V. Singh, D(T), THDCIL gave a detailed presentation regarding the project. Hon’ble PM Nepal appreciated the Project and registered his views in the visitor’s book.
Earlier in the day on the arrival of the delegation at view point of the Tehri Dam Sh. D.V. Singh, Director(Technical), THDCIL greeted them and thereafter briefed them about the features of Tehri Dam, Sh. Vijay Goel, GM(P&A/CC) was also present along with the officials of THDCIL.
THDCIL is one of the premier hydro power generators in the country with installed capacity of 1400 MW with commissioning of Tehri & Koteshwar Dam to its credit and is bestowed with 'Mini Ratna-Category-I & Schedule 'A' Status.
